Lead Enterprise & Solution Architect

We are looking for an experienced Lead Enterprise & Solution Architect to shape the architecture of a complex, business-critical application landscape and support its transformation towards a modern, maintainable and AI-enabled target environment.

The role combines classical enterprise and solution architecture with strong expertise across applications, data, integration, cloud and emerging AI technologies. You will work closely with business, engineering, data, security and delivery teams as well as external vendors, providing architectural direction from analysis and target design through implementation.

Key responsibilities:

• Assess the existing architecture and define pragmatic target and transition architectures across application, data, integration and technology domains.

• Translate business capabilities and requirements into solution architectures, system boundaries, technology choices and architectural roadmaps.

• Define architecture principles, standards, reference architectures and technology guardrails and ensure their application throughout delivery.

• Assess complex and legacy landscapes, identifying dependencies, technical debt, architectural risks and modernization opportunities.

• Define data and integration architectures including data ownership, system-of-record principles, APIs, events and interoperability patterns.

• Design and review scalable, secure and maintainable solutions across modern cloud, platform and application architectures.

• Identify and architect meaningful uses of AI, Generative AI and agentic technologies, including their integration with enterprise applications, processes and data.

• Lead architecture decisions and design reviews, document key decisions and challenge unnecessary complexity or inappropriate technology choices.

• Evaluate technologies, platforms and vendor solutions and provide architectural input into sourcing and RFP processes.

• Provide architectural leadership throughout implementation, working closely with engineering teams and vendors to ensure architectural intent translates into working solutions.

• Extensive experience as an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, Lead Architect or in a comparable senior architecture role.

• Broad expertise across enterprise, application, data, integration and technology architecture, combined with a strong understanding of modern software engineering.

• Proven experience with complex enterprise landscapes, legacy modernization and transformation programs.

• Strong knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, distributed systems, cloud architectures, data modelling and modern engineering practices.

• Practical knowledge of Generative AI and agentic AI architectures, including LLMs, RAG, AI agents, orchestration, enterprise data integration, evaluation and governance.

• Experience defining architecture principles, target architectures, reference patterns and Architecture Decision Records and conducting architecture and design reviews.

• Strong understanding of non-functional requirements including security, privacy, resilience, performance, scalability, operability and cost.

• Experience working across multiple teams and vendors and communicating architectural decisions effectively to both technical and business stakeholders.

• You should be comfortable moving between business capabilities, processes, data models, system boundaries, APIs, cloud platforms and AI architectures.
